AFC: Renew. (re)Imagine.

287 Laura Street

There are 5 Phases to complete this project, and we need your help to finish funding Phase 1. Currently we have raised over $330,000.00 towards our $500,000.00 tendered goal.

We’re nearly there!

The neighbourhood we operate in is vastly underserved, and at present, there is no community centre. There are a number of available supports for people facing immediate homelessness and some limited childcare supports, but no services for individuals and families living in the neighbourhood, especially Indigenous community members.

The Renew. (re)Imagine. campaign is about to change all of that through the redevelopment, renovation, and revitalization of the Annishinaabe Fellowship Centre at 287 Laura Street.

The completion of this project will provide opportunities for our Indigenous community members to engage in teaching traditional foods, growing traditional medicines and herbs, pow wow dancing, intergenerational mentorship, and activities such as building sacred fires and hosting sweat lodges. It is our hope that the entire community will access our centre, as the variety of programming is aimed to meet the vast needs of the neighbourhood.

The 5 Phases:

Phase 1:

Interior Demolition and Preliminary Construction

Phase 2:

Commercial Kitchen Enhancement

Phase 3:

Traditional Prairie Education Centre

Phase 4:

Capital Costs – Increased Building Capacity

Phase 5:

Exterior and Children’s Play Space
