WICM is a not-for-profit charitable organization committed to providing a healthy community for children, youth and families.
WICM’s Mission Statement: To embrace all people in Winnipeg’s inner city, inspire life-long learning, and build social and personal well-being.
WICM’s Vision Statement: An Inner city community where people live in harmony and balance within themselves and with each other.
We operate under three buildings:
Anishinabe Place of Hope– We operate a First Steps to Employment project (employment readiness) for adults (30-50 years of age) who have made a commitment to change the direction of their lives. We help residents achieve wholesome and productive lifestyles and develop skills leading to employment.
Flora House– The North End of Winnipeg is a challenging environment for families trying to raise their children to stay out of the gangs and away from drugs, alcohol and gambling. At Flora House emphasis is placed on creating a safe place in the community, where the special needs of children and youth (6-14 years of age) are nurtured and supported.
Anishinabe Fellowship Centre (Miracle Store)- We operate a thrift store where all items are 25 cents.
Respect: We believe in equal treatment and full acceptance for all.
Trust: We believe in building long lasting and trusting relationships.
Spiritual Life: We believe that hope has the power to change lives and nurture growth.
Community: We work with the community to create a safe environment for individuals and families.
The Winnipeg Inner City Missions (WICM) was formed in 2003 following an organizational merger between Anishinabe Fellowship Centre (AFC) and Flora House (FH). WICM’s mandate is to help provide a safe, nurturing and peaceful atmosphere in which people can begin to achieve their potential and find their way to having adequate food, clothing and a safe place to live being listened to and understood, achieving employment developing physical, emotional, spiritual and social well-being.
